Student Travel Awards:
The application process for student travel grants is now closed.
The 2013 American Control Conference Organizing Committee is pleased to provide partial student support for students traveling to the 2013 ACC in Washington DC, USA. The 2013 ACC thanks the generous sponsors who make this support possible.
The following three conditions are required for support:
- The applicant must have been enrolled as a student at the 2013 ACC paper submission deadline (September 24, 2012).
- The applicant must register for the conference and present a paper.
- The applicant must not submit expenses that are being reimbursed from other sources.
Application for student travel support must be made by FEBRUARY 19, 2013.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome on or about MARCH 10, 2013.
The amount of support will depend on available funds and the number of applicants.
Students should not register for the conference until they have been notified of the outcome of their application. The conference registration process may be different for supported students.
The application process is as follows:
Download and complete the application form:
and click on "Submit a Contribution to 2013 ACC."
Scroll down to the Student Travel Award Application, and hit "Submit."
Upload and submit the completed application from Step 1.
You will receive an e-mail confirmation that your application has been received. If you do not receive confirmation within 48 hours, contact Prof. Carolyn Beck (by email at email@example.com), ACC 2013 Vice Chair for Student Affairs. In March you will be informed whether you are eligible for support, and the maximum amount of funding available to you.
Unfortunately the 2013 American Control Conference may not be able to reimburse all of your travel expenses. We have a limited student travel support budget, but will assist as best we can within these constraints. In past years the level of support has been in the $400 to $1,000 range.
While the exact amount available will not be determined until all applications are received, the following information may be helpful for planning purposes. Expenses eligible for reimbursement include air or rail fare equivalent to advance-purchase, nonrefundable, economy-class travel, lodging (not to exceed three nights), and the cost of advance student registration ($220). Expenses NOT eligible for reimbursement include regular and/or on-site registration costs above the advance student registration fee, meals, and local transportation (taxis, shuttles, parking, etc.).
Reimbursement will be made AFTER completion of the conference, upon receipt of all required documentation, EXCEPTING registration reimbursement, which will be handled directly through PaperPlaza. Details will be sent to you in the support approval letter.
Funds for this travel support have been generously provided to the 2013 ACC by a number of organizations, and the Committee appreciates these contributions. The overall level of support will not depend on the funding source, but the specific reimbursement process and reporting requirements may differ. If your application is successful, you will receive instructions for obtaining the final payment at the same time you receive your notification of eligibility.
