Sponsored by the IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS), the American Automatic Control Council (AACC), and the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), a group of over 150 gathered in Toulouse, France on July 14, 2017 at the IFAC World Congress to celebrate “Women in IFAC.”
The 2017 American Control Conference (ACC) was held at the Sheraton hotel in downtown Seattle, Washington, May 24-26. The Sheraton is right next to the Washington State Convention Center, steps away from some of Seattle's most iconic sights such as the Seattle Waterfront, Pike Place Market, and the Space Needle.
The AACC Education Committee and IEEE CSS Technical Committee on Control Education organized and presented a STEM Workshop for middle and high school students and teachers on “The Power, Beauty and Excitement of the Cross-Boundaries Nature of Control, a Field that Spans Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM)” at the 2017 American Control Conference on May 24, 2017 in Seattle, WA.
Keeping up with its tradition, the IEEE Women in Control Standing Committee (WIC) held its bi-annual luncheon on the first day of the ACC 2017 in Seattle, WA. The luncheon was attended by 73 participants, who had the chance to network with fellow colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere. Inspiring speeches were given by WIC Chair Prof. Linda Bushnell, founding members Prof. Bozenna Pasik-Duncan and Prof. Molly Shor , CSS President Edwin Chong and AACC Vice President Prof. Richard Braatz.
