Women in Control Meet at ACC

Monday, August 4, 2014

Women in Control (WIC) is an interdisciplinary community encouraging and supporting women professionals in the field of control systems. It was originally initiated as a Standing Committee within the IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS) over twenty-five years ago, and now holds luncheons and meetings at various conferences such as the IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), the American Control Conference (ACC), the IFAC World Congress, ASME, and SIAM conferences. Sixty-two attended the WIC luncheon during the 2014 ACC in Portland Oregon (see photo). Although still a minority in the control systems field, women are serving in key leadership positions within the AACC: the AACC Treasurer, several society delegates to the AACC Board of Directors, the AACC Education Committee Chair, the AACC Workshops Committee Chair, and the General Chairs for the 2017, 2014, 2013, 2009, and 2008 ACCs.
