The 2015 ACC in Chicago co-hosted the annual “Beauty of Controls” workshop for middle and high school teachers and students. These workshops have been held twice a year in conjunction with the ACC, CDC and IFAC Meetings and Congresses. The objective is to create awareness of control system concepts to attract gifted young people to the profession.
The workshop activities include short and inspirational presentations by control systems experts, informal discussions, and the opportunity for teachers to meet passionate researchers and educators from academe and industry. During the last 15 years, over 7,000 middle and high school students and their teachers as well as undergraduate students have been reached through our educational activities. Over 150 senior and junior speakers, representing academia and industry have been engaged in educational activities.
The next workshop for Boston District Middle & High School Students and Teachers will be held at the ACC 2016 in Boston.
The AACC is grateful for the energy and creativity of Bozenna Pasik-Duncan and her many volunteers in shaping these events.
