The 2017 American Control Conference (ACC) was held at the Sheraton hotel in downtown Seattle, Washington, May 24-26. The Sheraton is right next to the Washington State Convention Center, steps away from some of Seattle's most iconic sights such as the Seattle Waterfront, Pike Place Market, and the Space Needle.
The conference featured technical as well as social programs and attracted over 1350 attendees from 46 countries. 944 accepted papers were organized into 19 parallel sessions over the three-day period. It also featured 29 invited sessions, 11 special sessions, 8 workshops, and 14 exhibits. In addition, the conference hosted over 40 committee meetings of member societies and journals.
Plenary and semi-plenary talks, as well as three special evening panels, draw large audiences. AACC awards and ACC Student Best Paper Award were announced at the award ceremony. This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the AACC and ACC, so there was a special celebratory theme. A note of appreciation is extended to the five gold and nine silver sponsors.
The contributions of the conference Operating Committee, the Society Review Chairs, plenary and semi-plenary speakers, authors, reviewers, and volunteers were essential to the success of the conference. Seattle delivered spectacularly sunny weather for the whole week, which exceeded the expectations of the organizers, who prepared umbrellas as a memento for each attendee.
