Dr. Robert Judd is the chair of the Industrial and Systems Engineering department in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology at Ohio University. Dr. Judd is also the director of the Center for Advanced Systems and Transportation Logistics Engineering. He has served as chair since 2005 and was named as a Russ Professor in the Russ College in 2012. He also has served as Cooper Industries Professor in the school of electrical engineering and computer science. He has thirty-three years of experience as an educator, researcher and consultant in cost estimation, max-plus algebra, system simulation, discrete event controls, and systems integration. Dr. Judd has taught courses at the graduate and undergraduate level including: capstone design; integrated manufacturing; control of manufacturing systems; discrete event dynamic systems; object-oriented programming and design; classical, optimal and digital control theory; linear and nonlinear systems theory; robotics; and dynamics. He has also developed four instructional laboratories in these areas. Dr. Judd has received over thirty-five research grants totaling about $10,000,000. This research concentrated on the cost estimation, integration of software and simulation systems. Dr. Judd has collaborated with multiple major industry partners, including General Electric, Parker Hannifin, General Motors, and Chrysler. He also received funding from the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Science and Technology. He is the author or co-author of over hundred published papers in journals and conferences. He also wrote a book chapter devoted to integrating manufacturing design tools and edited a special issue of the International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing dedicated to intelligent manufacturing systems. Dr. Judd was the co-organizer and co-editor of the proceedings of an International Conference on Intelligent Manufacturing Systems. Dr. Judd served as the Vice President of publications for the Society of Computer Simulation from 1995 to 2000 and the General Chair for the 2007 Automatic Controls Conference. He is on the board of the American Automatic Control Council and is serving as the chair of its Technical Meeting Committee.
