The Control Engineering Practice Award was renamed the Babatunde A. Ogunnaike Control Practice Award in his honor in 2023.
The Ogunnaike Award is given to one individual or one team to be selected from those nominated for significant contribution to the advancement of control practice. The primary criterion for selection will be for the application and implementation of innovative control concepts, methodology, and technology, for the planning, design, manufacture, and operation of control systems.
The award consists of a certificate and an honorarium. In the event that the winner is a team, each member of the team will receive a certificate and the honorarium will be divided equally among the team members.
The work on which the nomination is based must have been performed while the nominated individual or at least one member of the team was a resident of the USA.
For pioneering and sustained contributions to the advanced analysis, modeling, and control of high-precision high-speed mechatronic systems, and for outreach efforts to actively disseminate the impact of control systems.
For pioneering work on the industrial application of nonlinear model predictive control and for leading the effort for the establishment of an open software framework in computer control hardware.
For contributions to the autonomous control of unmanned vehicle systems
For the application of advanced data-driven algorithms for fault detection, fault diagnosis, and control in the chemical process industry
Excellent sustained and impactful contributions to the modeling, analysis and control of advanced vehicle powertrain systems
