Control technology has had significant impact in manufacturing and mining (robots), automobile systems (cruise control, power train management), cameras (auto focus, smile detection), health care, communications, and many other products and systems that enhance welfare and enable human aspirations. The second edition of the report “Impact of Control Technology” provides 68 two-page flyers that reveal diverse applications and continuing challenges for research and development. The report is co-edited by Tariq Samad (AACC President 2014-15) and Anu Annaswamy (General Chair of the 2008 ACC). The articles are provided by a who’s who from the community, and written to help the general public understand the benefit of the control application. AACC and IEEE CSS co-sponsored the second edition, which can be accessed at: http://www.ieeecss.org/general/IoCT2-report.
